I want to thank Assemblywoman Fiona Ma for helping identify the need for civic technology enthusiasts and businesspeople to participate actively in local and state politics, and for helping provide the spark that has become the San Francisco Technology Democrats, a new political club that aims to influence technology policy in SF and California, and to ensure that more technologists vote and participate in policy advocacy. I caught up with Fiona today at the California Democratic Party Convention in Sacramento. Here's what she had to say:
"I am proud to support the San Francisco Tech Dems. I think technology is one of our strengths here in California. With Silicon Valley as well as the other hubs all around California, we need to do all we can to promote technology, to promote open technology, as well as encouraging people to vote and to be educated on what happens in California, how we generate revenue, how we are going to remain competitive to ensure that we can get our of our fiscal crisis.
"Technology is one of the keys: we are a leader, we need to remain a leader."
